Guitar World Magazine offered a tribute to the late Darrel Abbot, guitarist for metal bands PANTERA and DAMAGEPLAN, in honor of the 10th anniversary of his death. In addition to a lovely extensive feature article for Abbot in their February magazine issue, Guitar World offered additional coverage by creating a video tour of Abbot’s home recording studio and impressive guitar collection.
Guitar World went to Abbot’s home and recording studio in Dalworthington Gardens, Texas, taking their cameras to give fans an exciting private trip through the virtuoso’s musical estate.
Abbot, one of the best-loved guitarists in hard rock, was shot onstage in 2004 during a DAMAGEPLAN performance by a mentally deranged member of the audience who went on a shooting rampage until being taken down and killed by the police.
Abbot’s death was a tragic blow to the hard rock industry, and his loss was deeply felt as this metal legend is remembered by the community for his partying spirit and unique playing style.
If you would like to pay your respects to the late great guitarist, or are simply interested in seeing how a musical genius organizes his space, please take the video tour attached below:
